Once the QuickBooks is installed and the Server or the Host computer is decided where the company file or the QuickBooks Data will be stored, the desired company file is opened for setting up multiuser environment. Now to turn on QuickBooks Hosting go to File menu and Select Utilities and then click on Host Multiuser Access, on the confirmation window click Yes. Hosting is required to turn on only is case of Client and server acting on same computer. If we are using a server to store company file and not using as client still one QuickBooks instance should have QuickBooks Hosting turned on.
The most tactical part comes after QuickBooks Hosting is tuned on is to give permissions and verifying all the permissions are being implemented properly or not. Permission are given to the client computers to access the company file on the folder in which company files are kept. To setup permissions on the company file folder, Right click on the company file folder and select Properties then go to Security Tab and click edit. From the list of users select QBDataServiceUserXX and check the box with Full Control and then click on Apply then OK.
To Verify the permissions right click on Company file folder and select Properties. Go to Security tab and click on Advanced then select the QBDataServiceUserXX and click Edit. Here we need to ensure the following set of permissions are Allowed.
